PRDC found this ghost of a sign from earlier times.
that was restored to this recollection of the history beneath it.
A Neighborhood Birthday Party
Rick James, owner of the Piggly Wiggly Stores in Memphis sponsered the restoration of the sign and receives a certificate of appreciation from Linda Williams, President of the Rozelle-Annesdale Assn.
Many thanks to Greg Odom, owner of Gloco Ironwork for saving the original sign for restoration.
Prizes were awarded to the winners of an essay contest from Rozelle School at the dedication ceremony. The event was attended by Kay Patterson, grandaughter of Saunders.
Clarence Saunders founded the original Piggly Wiggly Stores in Memphis and, after bankruptsy, started a second chain of stores named
"Clarence Saunders, Sole Owner of My Name."
This sign was on one of those stores.
